Reporting to the Manager - Accounting (Reinsurance Operations), we are looking for a Reinsurance Accounting Analyst to join our team and focus on Operations Accounting. As our new Reinsurance Accounting Analyst, you will:

  • Support the administration of our services. You will administer all necessary facets of reinsurance accounting including premium accounting and billing, claims accounting, booking of reinsurance reserves and facilitate settlements with multiple reinsurance partners.
  • Ensure quality assurance. You will ensure the highest quality of work that meets and exceeds client expectations is performed. You will:
    • Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting related to premiums, claims and reserves.
    • Ensure data quality on accounting systems including performing various systematic and manual reconciliations between the administration system and ledger.
    • Maintain timely and accurate reporting of all periodic reports to external clients as per the SLA.
    • Execute a variety of reinsurance processes currently done using MS Access databases or MS Excel worksheets.
    • Support administration and claims teams in the running of monthly and quarterly administration cycles by reviewing and processing cycle exceptions and reviewing reporting output.
    • Respond to ad hoc internal or reinsurer requests.
  • As needed, assist on projects to improve process efficiency or enhance data quality and administration systems.

So, how do we know you are the next Reinsurance Accounting Analyst? You have:

  • The education. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Actuarial Science or Computer Science. Interest in pursuing an Accounting designation a plus.
  • The knowledge. You have an understanding of how accounting tasks fit into, relate to and affect overall business workflow processes. Bonus points for reinsurance/insurance industry knowledge.
  • The experience. You have proven leadership abilities gained through academic projects or extra-curricular programs. You have an understanding of financial reporting and accounting.
  • The technical skills. You have hands-on experience with Excel and Access. Bonus points for exposure to the Great Plains system.
  • The relationship building skills. You have outstanding verbal and written skills. You know how to work with any level of internal or external client.
  • The drive. You are detail oriented. You enjoy making sense of the numbers. You are analytical in your approach to inaccuracies and information gaps, digging deep to resolve issues.
  • The personality. You are approachable, energetic, enthusiastic, curious and funny. You are a team player, a collaborator and an independent thinker.
